For Families

Riverside Family Halloween Fest & Dog Costume Party

Location: Joel Weeks Park (10 Thompson St, Toronto) on Sunday Oct 26 from 11 am to 3 pm.

Dates: October 26, 2025

What you’ll find: Free activities for kids (pumpkin decorating, face painting, treats), a dog-costume contest, vendors, and a relaxed outdoor community vibe.

The event usually takes place along Queen Street East, between Broadview Avenue and Booth Avenue, in the heart of the Riverside BIA district. The area gets busy during event hours, so if you’re driving, limited street parking is available on nearby side streets.

Halloween Nights of Lights & Pumpkinville

Location: CF Sherway Gardens (25 The West Mall, Etobicoke)

Dates: Until November 1, 2025

Details: This event features more than 1.5 million LED & RGB lights animated to spooky-season music, combined with “Pumpkinville” – a fun-fair-style village with large pumpkin sculptures and family-friendly décor.
Why it works for families: A bright, festive and walk-through experience rather than a high-fright haunted house. Younger kids can enjoy the illumination, pumpkins and festive ambience.

Being in Etobicoke, near major highways (the 427, QEW) and lots of parking, it’s easily accessible by car. If riding transit, take the TTC to Islington Station then a bus or short ride share. Consider booking a ride/taxi for evening times when lights are at their best to avoid parking stress.
Late October evenings can be chilly (often 5-10 °C). therefore, wearing layers, a light jacket or a sweater for the children, and even a pair of gloves when walking along the illuminated trails is recommended.

Legends of Horror at Casa Loma

Location: Casa Loma (1 Austin Terrace, Toronto)

Dates: Until November 1, 2025

Details: The magnificent castle and grounds of Casa Loma are transformed into a Haunted Halloween immersive theatrical trail experience. Children and their families take a journey through the 2 km trail through the gardens, tunnels and castle lower levels.

Why it works: For families with older children (pre-teens), this offers excitement and atmosphere without being extremely scary (though still expect dim lighting and theatrical elements).

Located on Austin Terrace near Davenport Road & Walmer Road. Parking is limited, hence, using a rideshare/taxi drop-off can ease logistics. From downtown, a short ride via Bloor or Bathurst is convenient.
The trail is largely outdoors or in semi-outdoor spaces, so prepare for breezy conditions. Waterproof shoes and a hat/scarf are wise for any gusty moments.

Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland

Location: Located in Vaughan (just north of Toronto), this large-scale haunted theme-park event includes scare zones, mazes, live shows.

Dates: Until November 1, 2025

Details: If you’re 13 or older (and for teens & adults), this event offers a high adrenaline mix of roller coasters in the dark and spooky atmospheres. It’s a haunting playground of seven immersive scare zones, six haunted mazes, live shows and more than 50 thrill rides operating after dark. Arrive early as some nights are popular and wait times for mazes & rides can build.

Bring a light jacket or layer up, and after 6pm bags must meet size restrictions and full-face masks or costumes may not be permitted in certain areas.
